A Love Story Built on Resilience, Friendship, Second Chances, and Courage to Keep Moving
For more than two decades, Fee King and Sekou Writes have shared a friendship grounded in creativity, purpose, perseverance, and a deep belief in the power of reinvention. Their journey began as friends more than 21 years ago and evolved into a love story that proves some of life’s greatest blessings arrive in their own time. Raised worlds apart, Fee in Omaha, Nebraska, and Sekou in Roxbury, Massachusetts, their paths would ultimately converge through shared values, personal growth, and a commitment to living life with intention.
Fee King is a three-time author, two-time marathoner, NAACP-nominated playwright, speaker, community builder, and advocate for women navigating midlife transitions. After experiencing her own midlife disruption, Fee transformed what many call a midlife crisis into a purposeful midlife reassessment, helping women embrace personal reinvention, wellness, relationships, and new possibilities.
Sekou Writes is a seven-time author, New York Times bestselling ghostwriter, playwright, speaker, and two-time stroke survivor whose remarkable resilience continues to inspire people around the world. After surviving two strokes, including one with only a small chance of survival, Sekou chose not merely to recover, but to rebuild a life defined by purpose, movement, creativity, and hope. Today, he is in the midst of a remarkable 1,300-plus-day running streak that stands as a testament to determination and gratitude.
Together, Fee and Sekou are the visionaries behind The 409 Vow Run, a movement inspired by the belief that life’s interruptions do not have to become life’s conclusions. Whether facing a devastating health diagnosis, the loss of a dream, a midlife transition, or an unexpected detour, their story demonstrates that resilience, faith, friendship, and community can help transform adversity into purpose. Through their partnership, writing, speaking, and movement initiatives, they hope to inspire others to keep going after life’s most difficult moments, trust their journey, and remain open to the extraordinary possibilities that can emerge when courage, healing, and love find their way back into the story.
